Over the past six months, businesses of all sizes have been forced to rethink the way they operate, including how they manage their workforces. Last year, HR professionals were faced with the tightest labor market in decades and record-low unemployment. As a result of the impact of COVID-19, these same teams now face record-high unemployment, an inflated pool of job seekers, and an uncertain talent acquisition landscape.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic halted much of the SMB market’s hiring. But following a 60% drop between the first week of March and the second week of April, small and mid-sized businesses have again been creating jobs at a steadily increasing rate, which has now rebounded above pre-COVID levels.
